Android Administration with ADB
A controlled Android administration workflow using Android Debug Bridge: verify the connection, inspect device state, transfer test files, collect diagnostics, and troubleshoot an application or display issue on an authorized device.
PREREQUISITES
USB debugging must be enabled on a device the operator is authorized to administer. The workstation should have a current platform-tools installation and the device should be explicitly trusted.
DEVICE WORKFLOW
The workflow starts with adb devices, followed by basic inventory such as Android version, model, battery state, and network-related properties. Operations are kept reversible and scoped to a test device.
FILES & DIAGNOSTICS
ADB can push/pull test artifacts, capture logs, take screenshots, and open a shell. Diagnostics are collected before changing configuration so that troubleshooting has evidence rather than guesswork.
$ adb devices List of devices attached R58MXXXXXXX device $ adb shell getprop ro.build.version.release 14 $ adb shell getprop ro.product.model <authorized test device> $ adb shell dumpsys battery | grep level level: 87
$ adb push ./demo.txt /sdcard/Download/demo.txt ./demo.txt: 1 file pushed $ adb shell ls -l /sdcard/Download/demo.txt -rw-rw---- ... demo.txt $ adb logcat -d -t 40 | grep -i 'FATAL EXCEPTION' | tail -n 3 <sample diagnostic line>
TROUBLESHOOTING SCENARIO
If a device appears offline, check cable/USB mode, authorization prompts, the ADB server, and device-side debugging settings. If an application crashes, capture logcat around the reproduction window and isolate the relevant package.
LESSONS LEARNED
ADB is powerful because it exposes a precise administrative surface. The same power makes authorization and data handling important: use only approved devices and avoid collecting unnecessary personal data.
